During the divisive Original Sin event a few years ago, Nick Fury whispered something in Thor's ear which left him unable to wield Mjolnir. What's led to the God of Thunder being deemed "Unworthy" still hasn't been revealed, but he's currently on a quest to get his hands on the hammer once held by the Ultimate version of the character.
Tragically, Carrie Fisher died earlier this week and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, passed away just one day later. As a result, it feels almost ridiculous to be worrying about the next Star Wars movie, though some fans are understandably anxious to know how Fisher's passing will affect the franchise from Star Wars: Episode VIII onwards.
Iron Fist is set to premiere on Netflix on March 17th, so it makes sense that the character is getting a new comic book series to celebrate that fact during the same month. It won't be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, though; instead, the comic takes place in the regular Marvel Universe and will further delve into the character's past.
In the midseason finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Ghost Rider was taken off the board when he seemingly sacrificed himself to save the team. A highlight of season four, fans were understandably disappointed to bid a premature farewell to the Spirit of Vengeance as the spotlight is now turned to LMDs (Life Model Decoys) when the show returns next year.
While it's been fun seeing Barry Allen square off with villainous speedsters over the past few years in The Flash, fans are beginning to grow bored of the Scarlet Speedster having to prove that he's the Fastest Man Alive. There's one villain in particular that many would like to see take center stage right about now, and that's Gorilla Grodd. He played a small role in the first two seasons of The CW series, and it's now been confirmed that he'll be making an appearance during The Flash's third season when the show returns early next year.
In the midseason finale of Arrow, Oliver Queen inadvertently murdered Felicity's new boyfriend, Billy. Prometheus dressed the detective up in one of his costumes and tricked the Emerald Archer into delivering a killer blow which brought a tragic and swift end to his romance with Ollie's old flame.
At the end of today's issue of Civil War II #8 (which also provided some answers about Iron Man's fate), we got a look at some big changes possibly coming to the Marvel Universe. Why? Well, if you read Marvel's titles you'll know that every event is followed by a long list of relaunches and new #1 issues, and it appears as if The Defenders will be among them.
Marvel has had mixed fortunes with their events for quite some time now. While they all seem to do well in terms of sales, fans are growing tired of countless relaunches and status quo changes which only last however long it takes for the next event to be launched. That's something which has most definitely been the case with Brian Michael Bendis' Civil War II.
With the end of 2016 rapidly approaching, we're now just a few months away from the release of Logan. The next trailer is believed to be right around the corner, and Hugh Jackman has today shared an image of a brand new banner being constructed featuring a fresh look at his iconic clawed mutant.
Supergirl has something of a villain problem. Season one's big bad (Kara's aunt) was hugely underwhelming, and while Cadmus has fared a little better, there's a lot the show could learn from Arrow and The Flash. However, it now appears as if we can expect to see some improvement as two of the Girl of Steel's past foes look set to return next year.
