We're going to see Ben Affleck once again suited up as Batman in Suicide Squad next month, but that won't be the last time the actor is shown kicking butt on the big screen this year. He'll soon be seen in The Accountant, but the film will have him playing a very different type of hero.
It was revealed at Comic-Con that The Flash's third season will kick off in an alternate "Flashpoint" reality created by Barry Allen after he decided to travel back in time to save his mother from the Reverse-Flash. How long that will be the status quo for remains to be seen, but we do know that Wally West is going to be The Flash in this timeline.
The Walking Dead TV series has taken a lot of liberties with the source material in recent years, but for the most part, they both seem to be following the same basic blueprint. That's evident from what's currently happening with Negan, but comments from creator Robert Kirkman at Comic-Con this past weekend may point to an upcoming shake-up of sorts.
For a very long time now, there's been a bizarre Suicide Squad fan theory doing the rounds. It revolves around the idea that The Joker being played by Jared Leto is in reality Jason Todd, the Robin whose defaced costume was on display in the Batcave in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
It's rare these days for any comic book movie casting decision not to be picked apart by comic book fans who have their own very specific ideas about how their favourite characters should be portrayed on the big screen, and everyone from Idris Elba to Ben Affleck and Michael B. Jordan have come under fire in recent years (only to quickly prove the haters wrong).
Constantine was never given a fair chance to succeed by NBC thanks to a terrible Friday night time slot and serious lack of marketing, and fans of the series have since campaigned hard for it to be resurrected. That led to Matt Ryan reprising the role in Arrow last year, but his future as the demon hunter in live-action is currently unknown.
Did Punisher: War Zone director Lexi Alexander just let slip the name of the filmmaker who may be helming the upcoming Captain Marvel movie? It certainly seems like it.
James Gunn said that the footage shown from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 at Comic-Con this past Saturday wouldn't be released online, and it hasn't been. However, Marvel Studios more than made up for that by debuting a brand new trailer for Doctor Strange, the first of their Phase 3 movies which reaches the big screen this November courtesy of director Scott Derrickson.
Wonder Woman is a movie which has been stuck in development hell for years now, with Warner Bros. seemingly reluctant to move forward with a female led superhero blockbuster after seeing the way the likes of Catwoman and Elektra flopped. Finding the right story also always seemed to be a challenge for them, too, and not even Joss Whedon could talk them into making it.
One of the biggest surprises to come out of this year's San Diego Comic-Con had to be the first trailer and poster for Justice League. While there was a lot of speculation that we might get a group photo at the very least, no one expected footage to be shown at such an early stage in production, and the chances of it being released online seemed even slimmer.
