The Strain may have just concluded its first season, but the fun continued last week during the New York Comic-Con Lunar Eclipse Party. Fans of the FX series were invited to The Delancy Rooftop Garden Nightclub where some of the cast, including Mia Maestro, Natalie Brown, Jim Watson, Robert Maillet and Robin Atkin Downes, were in attendance.
The Walking Dead is back, and we couldn't be happier about it. Our very own Adam Donaldson reviewed the season five premiere tonight and found it to be an action-packed return that did not disappoint in the slightest, a sentiment that I fully agree with. Rick & co. look to be in for a wild ride this year and as a big fan of the series, I can't wait to see where things go.
Don’t be fooled by The Good Lie’s poster, in which Reese Witherspoon appears to be at the center of the film. Director Philippe Falardeau and writer Margaret Nagle have managed to pull off something rather remarkable here, and that is that they've managed to tell the story of a group of South Sudanese refugees in the U.S. from their perspective rather than from a western one.
With so many films releasing each year, it’s impossible to catch them all. No matter how many movies you see, there are always a handful that manage to get by. You pledge to catch them at a later date, or maybe when they hit Blu-Ray, but we all know how it goes. You never get around to watching them and as more and more time passes, they get completely forgotten. It’s a shame, too, because there really are so many great movies that get overlooked each and every year and unfortunately, don’t achieve the mainstream success that they deserve.
While most people are likely familiar with Martin McDonagh, the British director behind brilliant dark comedies like In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths, his brother John Michael, is perhaps less well known. He made his directorial debut in 2011 with The Guard, an excellent comedy/thriller starring Don Cheadle and Brendan Gleeson. Now, he's gearing up to release his second effort, Calvary, which once again sees him teaming up with the Irish actor.

Though it wasn't until her breakout performance in Animal Kingdom that Jacki Weaver really became well known stateside, since that explosive 2010 film, she's steadily increased her profile in Hollywood. The actresses' newest project is Woody Allen's Magic In The Moonlight, which hits theatres tomorrow and stars Colin Firth and Emma Stone.

After impressing audiences with 2011's After Earth, director Mike Cahill and actress Brit Marling are diving into the sci-fi genre once again to bring us I Origins, which hits theatres today. Focusing on a molecular biologist who stumbles upon evidence that could "fundamentally change society as we know it," the film is an intriguing piece of work with some genuinely interesting ideas that will leave you with some serious food for thought.
