Much progress is being made on the reboot of the iconic colossal creature Godzilla, as filming continues in Canada under the direction of Gareth Edwards. Despite releasing an on-set clip a few months ago, Legendary Pictures and Edwards have kept most of the plot details to themselves, but now they are thankfully giving us a few glimpses into their work with some screenshots featuring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Johnson.
Sometimes an attempt at a female-led comedy does not turn out as successful as Paul Feig's Bridesmaids and you end up with something like Bad Teacher, the 2011 comedy starring Cameron Diaz. Despite not being received too well by critics, Sony will be bringing us a sequel.
Paul Feig will be continuing his recent trend of directing comedies led by a female cast with Susan Cooper. His 2011 female-led feature, Bridesmaids, was a mega success, bringing in $288 million. That film will be followed by The Heat later this month. After bridal parties and buddy cops, Feig's new focus will be on a female spy who is said to be reminiscent of James Bond.
After the release dates for parts three and four of The Amazing Spider-Man were announced, Sony Pictures has decided to cut the character of Mary Jane Watson from The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Shailene Woodley of The Descendants and The Spectacular Now was set to depict MJ in the sequel since last Fall. Now her appearance has been pushed to part three. This update also adds fuel to the fire of a rumor that the character of Gwen Stacey, played by Emma Stone, will be killed off in the upcoming sequel, as was her fate in the comic books.

Ridley Scott and Fox have at last found a worthy scribe for the sequel to their 2012 galactic epic Prometheus. The two are eyeing Jack Paglen, writer of Wally Pfister's first directorial effort Transcendence,which will be released in April of next year.
A new clip from the Danish dramatic thriller, A Hijacking (or Kapringen as it's known in Denmark), has been released. The film, written and directed by Tobias Lindholm, tells the story of the Danish cargo ship MV Rozen and its capture by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. A portion of the tense negotiations between the Copenhagen authorities and the hijackers is shown in the nearly three minutes of released footage that can be viewed below.
A hauntingly vague and atmospheric teaser trailer for Cary Fukanaga's HBO drama series True Detective has been released. With a promise that "darkness lives on both sides of the law," the footage only reveals a glimpse of stars Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey.
Loki, the villain of Marvel's The Avengers, will not be making a return for the sequel, The Avengers 2. In a podcast interview for Empire, director/screenwriter Joss Whedon has confirmed Tom Hiddleston's character has not been included in an early draft of the script.
