Though most well known for his musical abilities, rapper turned actor Common is starting to make a decent case for himself as a legitimate talent on screen. Hot off a solid turn in John Wick: Chapter 2, The Hollywood Reporter is now telling us that he's set to headline Quick Draw, a revenge thriller from Content Media.
Many viewers feel that AMC's The Walking Dead has been treading water a little since that brutally bloody season 7 premiere, but even the show's biggest detractors have to admit that last night's installment, "Bury Me Here," was a powerful and compelling return to form.
Given the nature of the main Star Wars saga in relation to the mysteries surrounding the force and the legacy of characters that came before, there's been speculation that we may see some of the old Jedi show up in some capacity ever since the events of The Force Awakens - and one iconic, diminutive green fellow in particular has been rumored for an appearance in the next installment, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
We'll be the first to admit that we were among the many people who wrote off M. Night Shyamalan a long time ago, back when he was putting out duds like Lady in the Water and The Happening. What started off as a tremendously promising career took a sharp nosedive rather quickly and never fully recovered - until now. Starting in 2015 with The Visit, the director slowly but surely began to get back on a more positive track, one which eventually led to this year's Split.
It was just this past weekend that we got a new promo for James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which premiered at the Kids Choice Awards. Funny and entertaining, it brought us a promising look at the film and left fans begging for more. Well, it seems like they got their wish, as we now have yet another new preview for the highly anticipated sequel, and you can check it out up above.
The tale of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is an odd one. Based on Stieg Larsson’s bestselling thriller of the same name, the adaptation was a huge hit overseas, spawning several sequels and even a US remake. Directed by David Fincher and starring Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander, the English version released back in 2011 and while not a massive hit, it did do fairly well with both critics and at the box office.
The CW's small-screen take on DC Comics superhero, Black Lightning, has cast British actress Christine Adams in the final lead role of the series, Lynn Stewart. She'll be joining Cress Williams as the former crime-fighter of the title, Jefferson Pierce, as well as Nafessa Williams and China Anne McLain as his daughters, Anissa and Jennifer - who will most likely suit up as Thunder and Lightning at some point as the show progresses.
Though it doesn't seem like the kind of film that's begging for a follow up, a sequel to Ridley Scott's 2000 sword and sandals epic Gladiator has been rumored for a while now. Ideas for a second outing have been floating around ever since 2009 and while nothing has materialized as of yet, Scott hasn't given up on it.
Edgar Wright has been awfully quiet lately. After establishing himself as one of the most exciting up and coming filmmakers with his Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, which consisted of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End - all excellent, by the way - not to mention bringing us the equally as good Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, the director had a very public falling out with Marvel, leading him to depart Ant-Man.
Remember Escape Plan? Mikael Håfström‘s thriller starring Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger? No? We don't blame you. It didn't do a whole lot at the box office - domestically, at least - and failed to impress critics. It did, however, make $100 million overseas, and you know what that means, don't you? Sequel.
