In some of the most bizarre news we've heard in a while, John Carpenter has taken to Facebook to announce that David Gordon Green and Danny McBride will make the next Halloween film. The comedic duo will write the script together with Green set to get behind the camera to direct. As for Carpenter, he'll remain on board as executive producer and may even help out with the music.
2016 was supposed to be the year that Hollywood finally broke the curse of video game adaptations. For too long now, countless filmmakers have tried to adapt their favorite gaming properties to the big screen, only to fail spectacularly each and every time. However, fans were offered hope when both Warcraft and Assassin's Creed entered development. As we all know, though, neither adaptation managed to impress and we're still sitting here just hoping that someone will get it right eventually.
Entertainment Weekly debuted a new look at the young cast of Netflix's Stranger Things (including Eleven and her new hairdo) on their latest cover yesterday, and now they've published an interview with one half of the series' creative team, Matt Duffer. Though we already had a rough idea of what to expect in terms of the timeline and whatnot, Duffer reveals some intriguing new plot details concerning Will Byers, Sheriff Hopper and a couple of the new characters that'll be introduced.
Though all went silent on The Walking Dead front for quite a while following the midseason finale (understandably so), the past few weeks have more than made up for the drought. The network has been releasing everything from promos to stills and talking up the show's midseason premiere - which takes place this Sunday - quite a bit. While excitement may have been at a definite low point when Rick and co. last graced our screens, due to an underwhelming first half, it seems like the hit series is ready to get back on track and deliver an explosive conclusion to season 7.
It's kind of a shame what happened with Lionsgate's Divergent series. Based on Veronica Roth's YA novels, hopes were initially high for the films, given how successful the books were, and with a studio who'd already proven they knew how to navigate the trick waters of the genre a few years prior with The Hunger Games series, all signs pointed to another mega hit that would dominate the box office for the next little while.
Blockbuster movie fan-theories are a dime a dozen, and Star Wars fan-theories are more prevalent than most - but every once in a while, one comes along that does warrant closer inspection. Such is the case with Redditor Darth Hodor's (what a name) well thought-out Star Wars: The Last Jedi speculation regarding Benicio Del Toro's new character.
Ever since Ben Affleck announced that he'd no longer be directing Warner Bros.' The Batman, it seems to be the only thing that people can talk about. It's expected, though, as the news came as quite a shock. Admittedly, Big Ben did have his hesitations about taking on the job and had expressed his concerns on more than one occasion, but did anyone actually think he'd ever step down? Probably not, and what it means for the future of the Dark Knight's solo outing is still very unclear.
With the massive success of last year's The Force Awakens and now more recently Rogue One, it was probably only a matter of time before someone decided to cash in with a Star Wars parody film, and it turns out that someone will be Jason Friedberg along with his writing/directing partner Aaron Seltzer.
By this point, we don't need to tell you that Westworld was a smashing success for HBO. Setting numerous records and becoming one of the most talked about shows of last year, not to mention all the awards recognition it's been receiving, it's clear that the network has a new hit on their hands. In case you needed more evidence of that though, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes got on the phone with investors today and dropped some impressive stats.
After a short hiatus, AMC's ever-popular (even if it's not the ratings monster it once was) zombie survival drama, The Walking Dead, will return for its highly anticipated midseason premiere next week. The first episode back is titled "Rock in the Road", and we know it will focus on Rick and his crew attempting to recruit some of the other communities that survive under Negan's thumb to their new cause: operation eliminate The Saviors. Though fans of the source material might have a pretty good idea of the major plot points that occur after this, casual viewers had no idea what to expect... until now.
