The first teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens actually debuted over a year before the film's release, in November of 2014, so fans were hopeful that they might get a glimpse of the still untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII with Rogue One. Well, Gareth Edwards' prequel hits theatres tonight and unfortunately, that's not going to happen - but, thanks to Lucasfilm head honcho Kathleen Kennedy, we do finally have some idea of when we'll be seeing the first footage.
Another couple of Game of Thrones season 7 set snaps have popped up online, and like the recent batch of Lannister-centric images from Spain's Los Barruecos National Park, these also signpost some pretty major spoilers - this time revolving around the villainous Euron Greyjoy, his defiant niece, and two very familiar Dornish prisoners.
We've had quite a bit of casting news for CBS All Access' new Star Trek: Discovery show over the last couple of weeks, but we were always told that the search was still on for an actress to play the lead role. Now, it looks like we finally have one. According to Entertainment Weekly, Sonequa Martin-Green has been chosen to play the still unnamed main character, who will be a lieutenant commander aboard the U.S.S. Discovery.
The soundtrack for the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie was absolutely superb and became as synonymous with the film as its story or its incredibly popular bunch of ragtag characters. With infectious, feel-good tunes such as Blue Swede's "Hooked on a Feeling" and Redbone's "Come and Get Your Love," the compilation actually went on to become the first soundtrack album in history consisting entirely of previously released songs to top the Billboard 200 chart.
Fans were hoping they might see some kind of teaser for Rian Johnson's still untitled Star Wars: Episode VIII with Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but that doesn't look very likely at this point. Of course, as soon as the hype for Gareth Edwards' prequel film dies down a bit, Disney and Lucasfilm will be turning their attention to the direct follow-up to The Force Awakens, and a first glimpse of some footage should't be too far off. However, if one of the returning stars from that movie had his way, we wouldn't get to see a trailer at all.
AMC's The Walking Dead won't be back on our screens with a new episode until February, but last night's midseason finale left us with a lot to chew on (no pun intended) until then. Though Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan ensured fans had their weekly dose of bloody brutality thanks to a grisly disembowelment (see ya Spence), the extended installment actually ended on a positive note, as Rick and co. arrived to see Maggie at the Hilltop Colony to find that Daryl had escaped from the Saviors' compound. Emotional bro-hugs and smiles all 'round followed, as the group resigned themselves to the fact that it was time to strike back against Negan and his men.
Deadline is reporting tonight that casting has picked up for James Wan's Aquaman, with Patrick Wilson snagging the role of Orm, the titular hero's half-brother. He'll join a cast that already includes Jason Momoa, Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe.
With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's theatrical release so very close, the legions of fans of that galaxy far, far away will soon turn their attention to director Rian Johnson's follow-up to J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and some fresh rumors relating to the film have already begun to pervade the web. Up to this point we've all been referring to the movie at Star Wars: Episode VIII, but now, thanks to a recent trademark filing at the European Union Intellectual Property Office, we may finally have an official title.
We already know that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story isn't going to do the kind of box office numbers that its predecessor, Star Wars: The Force Awakens did. That much is clear. However, that doesn't mean it won't make a healthy profit for Disney. With anticipation through the roof for the upcoming spinoff, Deadline is now reporting that the film could clear $350M with its worldwide debut. It's a far cry from The Force Awakens' earth-shattering $528.97M, but it's still one hell of a number.
Based on the success of the trailer released yesterday, Sony has now announced Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 for July 5th, 2019, according to Deadline. Making room on the release schedule for the Marvel hero is Bad Boys 4, which was originally set for July 3rd of that same year but is now moving to May 24th.
