Set for release this fall, it's been a long wait for The Dressmaker. The film first premiered back at TIFF last year and is only now getting ready to march into theatres. Coming to us courtesy of Amazon and Broad Green, the 1950s set romantic drama stars Kate Winslet and Liam Hemsworth and according to reviews from the festival circuit, it's worth getting excited over.
Not too long ago, we caught wind of a Get Shorty TV show being developed over at EPIX. An adaptation of both Elmore Leonard's novel and Barry Sonnenfeld's great 1995 film, the dark comedy is set to take things in a bit of a different direction, as it won't feature Ernest "Chili" Palmer. Instead, it's focused on Miles Daly, a former Nevada mobster who will be played by Chris O'Dowd.
Though there were still some remnants of the earlier novels covered (The Greyjoy kingsmoot, for example), for the most part, the events season 6 of HBO's Game of Thrones were just as surprising for readers of George R.R. Martin's source materiel as they were for viewers - and season 7 promises to bring us even further into uncharted territory.
You may recall some images from the season 3 set of The Flash that gave us a glimpse of a new black-clad speedster, and the actor (The Vampire Diaries' Todd Lasance) beneath the mask. Though we weren't certain about this character's identity at the time, it was recently revealed that Barry Allen and co. would be going up against DC villain Savitar on season 3 of the CW series. So, that must be who Lasance is playing... right?
It may already be the end of August, but that doesn't mean there aren't a ton of great movies to still look forward to. In fact, it's quite the opposite, with a plethora of exciting films still set to be released. From a new entry into the Star Wars franchise to a magical Harry Potter spinoff, there's a lot to be excited about.
Production may be well underway on the Atlanta set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, with numerous photos to prove it, but it seems that the casting process for the film is still incomplete. We know this because Variety is reporting that Jona Xiao has just boarded the reboot in an unknown role.
We've got a few glimpses into Black Widow's (Scarlett Johansson) dark past already in the Avengers movies, but it looks like the poor lass had an even harder time while training to be an assassin that we realized. In the Captain America: Civil War junior (yes, really) novelization, Natasha gives her pal Steve Rogers a chilling account of one of the incidents that shaped her as a child going through the "Red Room" programme.
Late last night, a new batch of stills emerged from the Brisbane, Queensland set of Thor: Ragnarok, showing off stars Tom Hiddleston and Chris Hemsworth in what's supposed to be New York City. At the time, we had no idea what the context of the scene being filmed was, but today, we may have gotten our first clue.
Filming is now underway in Queensland, Australia on the set of Thor: Ragnarok, and as expected, more set photos continue to make their way online. Though not terribly revealing, this latest batch does give us a look at the film's two stars in what appears to be New York City.
