We’re The Millers Blu-Ray Review
If I can be completely honest for a second, I'll see anything Jason Sudeikis participates in. Seriously. I personally think he's one of the funniest actors in the game right now, and while every movie he's in may not be a huge success (Movie 43), he's an actor who can consistently and effortlessly make you laugh through many different types of comedic roles. We're The Millers not only pairs him with a wonderful little cast featuring the still smoking Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, Will Poulter, Nick Offerman, Kathryn Hahn and Ed Helms, but it lets Jason play two very different characters. The question was simple though - could this mainstream comedy be a fun identity-swapping romp, or would the story delve into mindless silliness?

Contracted Review [NYCHFF 2013]
Remember all those times where you didn't use a condom during sex and spent the next few days anxiously waiting to find out if you'd be welcoming an unexpected child into your life? I know, that's enough of a horror movie right there, thinking about the responsibility of taking care of another life, but Contracted is worse - oh, so much worse. I firmly believe Eric England's body-horror flick should be shown in high schools around the world when the importance of using protecting is discussed in Sex Ed classes, because having an STD is one thing, but the thought of contracting whatever the hell this STD is will probably cause any sexually active viewers to carry a whole box of condoms on their person at all times.

Pieces Of Talent Review [NYCHFF 2013]
I absolutely love when a horror movie can make my skin crawl not out of typical scares and thrills, but out of unnerving, twisted psychological terror. Any film can use ghosts and monsters to create a fear of the unknown, but it takes more intelligent and gritty horror movies to make me fear man himself, especially when the intentions are positive. There's nothing scarier than a man who blindly believes his own disturbing, hurtful ideals, and it's even scarier when said man carries out those sick ideals with a smile on his face. That, in a matter of words, is Joe Stauffer's Pieces Of Talent, a movie that will make you question the very meaning of the word "trust."

Return To Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1 Review [NYCHFF 2013]
Man, Tromaville High School just can't catch any breaks it seems. Cretins, subhumanoids, monsters - the classes of "Nuke 'Em High" have seen their share of death and destruction, but it's been about twenty years since we last heard from them. Seems like the perfect time for writer/director Lloyd Kaufman to go all radioactive again to torture a fresh class of Tromaville's best and brightest if you ask me - and Troma! Yes, we all know the antics that come along with a Troma feature, and Return To Nuke 'Em High Volume 1 may be one of the most Troma-y movies Troma has ever made. The Class Of Nuke 'Em High was built on a sturdy foundation of social satire, raw sexuality, goo-oozing gore, and slapstick, spoof-ish comedy, and Lloyd Kaufman's latest return doesn't abandon a single ideal. Nudity, hyper-aggressive violence, evil glee clubs, duck rape, radioactive tacos, President Lemmy? Welcome back to Tromaville High kiddies - now sit down, shut the fuck up, and let professor Kaufman show you how to make a righteous B-Movie.

Nato And Remy’s Last Stand: A Reflection On Our 2013 Horror Predictions
Alright, it's no secret that my counterpart Remy and myself like to play psychic and predict what horror movies will be worth your while, and 2012 was no different. Perusing through the 2013 catalogue, we picked a handful of movies that really got our inner horror geek excited, from all different subgenres, and hoped to dazzle you with bold and righteous predictions - which of course didn't hold true for half the films. Seriously, we didn't back down, and even on the more independent features we watched, we rated them with the upmost honesty. If a movie isn't worth your while, it doesn't matter how much filming budget it had. A boring movie is a boring movie - no doubt about it.

The Best Man Holiday Review
The Best Man Holiday should have been an extremely fun comedy judging by trailers and advertising, following four friends reuniting after years of separate successes - but that's not the movie we get. Oh no, far from it. Malcolm D. Lee's direct sequel to The Best Man is emotional pornography that pulls every sucker punch in the book, highlighted by a screenplay that forces every single tear-jearking cliché into one sad, misguided film. Don't think I'm just a hater of romantic lore either, because I just saw About Time and Richard Curtis knows how to choke a dude up, but Lee's attempts to bust open our emotional dams are faulty, forceful, and downright pitiful at times. It's like a trashy episode of Jerry Springer made love to a Hallmark special feature and popped this bastard love-child out during Christmas - providing a watch that neither spreads good cheer nor makes any season bright.

As I Lay Dying Review
For every role in a movie like Homefront or This Is The End, James Franco has twenty other projects he's writing/directing/starring in that are on a completely different intellectual level, quenching this modern-day Renaissance man's passion for challenging cinema. In keeping with that admirable spirit, Franco's latest project, As I Lay Dying, attempts to adapt the famed novel written by William Faulkner - a project not even the craziest screenwriters would dare attempt. With so many narratives in Faulkner's Southern drama, a translation to screen seemed like a professional death sentence, but for a man who's attempting to conquer both mainstream and independent audiences, it couldn't have been a better fit. Execution is a completely different story, which I'll get to, but are you really surprised that NYU Professor and literature aficionado James Franco attempted such a wordy beast?

Charlie Countryman Review
So many twenty-somethings of my generation wish they could just escape, be it from a mundane, ball and chain desk job, or a jobless after-college experience, or the debt-filled, stress-fueled lifestyle our society now generates while we struggle just to keep our heads above water. We sometimes dream of just running away, hopping on a plane for a grand adventure we deserve, taking in all life has to offer - not watching it fly by as we put our nose to the grindstone day and day out, just to pay out our asses to do it again the next day.

The Conjuring Spin-off Annabell Is Officially In The Works
When a movie like The Conjuring breaks as many box office records as it did, it's no surprise that studios are now clamoring to put a sequel into production to capitalize on the dynamite success. With that in mind, it didn't come as a shock to anyone when New Line announced plans for The Conjuring 2 a few months back, reacting to the tremendous numbers and phenomenal reviews regarding James Wan's terrifying blockbuster masterpiece. It'd be silly not take advantage of one of the most successful horror movies in recent memory, right?
