After turning more than a few industry heads at the E3 conference in LA last week, Titanfall has established itself as the one to watch for the Xbox community. While Respawn Entertainment’s first-person shooter is also coming to PC in early 2014, this is a game that lit up the Galen theatre with its bombastic action and relentless gameplay last week. However, without a single player campaign, Titanfall will launch as an exclusively multiplayer title – similarly to 2010’s rather feeble MAG – which is a decision that the developers believe ‘made sense.’
Just yesterday evening, Sony issued a new firmware update for the Playstation 3 with the promise of improving system stability. However, after sparking a flurry of feedback from the Playstation community, the company have postponed the scheduled update after users reported that, post-installation, their consoles had been rendered obsolete. Speaking to RPG Site, the Japanese game director singled out the twelfth iteration in the franchise as a potential source for a future project.
After garnering seemingly unanimous praise when the critical embargo lifted last week, The Last Of Us finally hit retail on Friday, June 14th and smashed a few records along its journey to the No.1 spot. Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic action adventure game claimed number one on the UK gaming chart and was the largest launch for a novel franchise since Rockstar’s L.A. Noire in 2011.
Since it burst onto the scene with its bold, open-world premise back in 2007, Assassin’s Creed has undeniably positioned itself as a cornerstone of the gaming industry. With thirteen different iterations to date across a multitude of individual platforms, it’s a wonder you aren’t able to play it on your refrigerator yet. And yet, it’s a franchise that shows no signs of slowing down, after Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot confirmed to Kotaku that three games are in active development.
