If you didn't know any better, you'd assume next month kicked off the summer. Between Logan, Beauty and the Beast, Kong: Skull Island and Ghost in the Shell, it's filled with tons of blockbusters, and that's without mentioning Power Rangers. Director Dean Israelite's revamped reboot is a younger, slicker take on the corny children's TV series, and this final trailer isn't afraid to flaunt that.
After nearly 50 years on the air and over 13 different iterations of the popular British character, Doctor Who might finally become a woman. If recent rumors are to be believed, that is. With Peter Capaldi set to vacate the phone booth after this newest season, the position is wide open and, according to recent reports, Tilda Swinton is the frontrunner to lead the show.
Once upon a time, film fans waited decades between new Terrence Malick movies. Now, they come seemingly once a year. Following last year's divisive Knight of Cups, Malick is back with Song to Song, his latest free-wielding drama, which follows Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara, Michael Fassbender and Natalie Portman lost in love, misery, sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll inside the music-friendly city of Austin, TX, all of which are highlighted in the electrifyingly first trailer, which is found above.
It's understandable if you were all but done with Super Bowl LI. The second half turnaround for the New England Patriots was either one of the greatest or worst moments in sports history (for my money, it was closer to the latter...), and it's time to put it behind us — at least until the next season starts. But not so fast, a few Hollywood executives said. Quarterback Tom Brady's "comeback victory" at the Super Bowl will get the silver screen treatment, courtesy of screenwriters Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson, the pens behind The Fighter and last year's The Finest Hours.
These days, comic book adaptations are as commonplace on the small screen as they are on the big. Whether it's on Netflix, ABC, The CW or FX, your remote control doesn't need to travel far to see your favorite (and more obscure, for that matter) characters come to life. That tradition will continue on WGN America, as they're gearing up a pilot based on Vertigo Comics' Scalped, and while details remain slim, we now know who'll direct. Those duties belong to Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi, best known for helming 2015's well-received crime drama Black.
There are so many superhero movies in various stages of production at this point that it's easy to forget about one or two currently in the works. Indeed, I'll admit a little absent-mindedness when it comes to Josh Boone's forthcoming New Mutants. It's still early into pre-production, but it's nevertheless one of 20th Century Fox's top priorities, and while Boone and his team have mostly remained quiet on the upcoming superhero production, the director revealed some exclusive artwork on his official Twitter page this weekend, which ultimately confirms a little bit of casting news.
Remakes, remakes, remakes. Oh, how they come and go in Hollywood. Barely a day goes by without one promised, one announced and one discarded, and today is no different. James L. Brooks' Best Picture-winning 1983 directorial debut, Terms of Endearment, wasn't necessarily clamoring for a remake, but by golly are we going to get one.
It's okay if you've given up hope on Bill & Ted 3 at this point. After years — decades, even — of empty promises, failed start dates and unfilled potential, we've almost thrown down the time-traveling towel ourselves. As the cast get older, one questions when (and if) it'll come together. Furthermore, you've got to wonder if it's even worth it at this point. That hasn't deterred the talent behind the project though. They're still waving the Bill & Ted flag both tried and true, and that's especially the case for Keanu Reeves, who recently revealed a few more details about the film.
You only get one chance to save the galaxy twice. That's the mantra behind Marvel's latest sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, writer/director James Gunn's much-anticipated anti-superhero blockbuster. With a May release just around the corner now, it's time for Marvel to high-kick their marketing build-up, and that's the reason for today's newest TV spot, which can be found above.
Dan Stevens is seemingly everywhere these days. On the small screen, he's got Legion. On the big screen, he's the titular Beast in Beauty and the Beast. But the fun doesn't stop there, as he's also on the indie circuit too, commanding your attention with the mysterious new film The Ticket, which hands him either a miracle or a curse - depending on how you see things.
