The Newsroom Review: “Amen” (Season 1, Episode 5)

The Newsroom is developing into a very strong show. For a while it seemed that HBO and Aaron Sorkin had dropped the ball, but their ambition for The Newsroom is perhaps a little different from what people were expecting. When the extensively wordy dialogue is stripped back, the show reveals itself as a very simplistic drama that hits a very typical narrative structures.

Breaking Bad Review: “Madrigal” (Season 5, Episode 2)

The dark, but reasonably calm season premiere of Breaking Bad gave a lot of promise for the oncoming bleakness of the next 15 episodes. We're now into episode 2, which also decides to play its cards very close to its chest by remaining a similarly quieter affair. It's not exactly explosive by any means of the word, but it nonetheless points toward darker and more troublesome times to come.

Comic Con is now a distant ship moving toward the horizon and all the hype is starting to die down. The Newsroom Review: “I’ll Try To Fix You” (Season 1, Episode 4)

Taking its name from a Coldplay song and with the excellent Hope Davis guest starring, this week's episode of The Newsroom sees the show truly getting into its stride. After viewing the first four episodes, I can safely say that this is truly becoming one of the must see shows on television. It's not perfect by any means and this episode in particular shows just how good, and how bad it can be. There are better shows out there, that's for sure, but for the pure entertainment of seeing this ensemble cast speaking Aaron Sorkin's dialogue, there truly is nothing better.
