Is Jamie Lee Curtis gay?

The rumors never seem to be put to rest.

Jamie Lee Curtis has been in the public eye for a long time, having currently over 80 acting credits across film and television combined. Her supporting role in the 2022 movie Everything Everywhere All at Once, however, has given the actress more recognition than ever before, landing Curtis her first Oscar win.

Much like what happens with all celebrities, during the course of Curtis’ long career, speculation about her private life has always been present — particularly in regard to the actress’ sexuality. Curtis has been the subject of gay rumors more than once, and now they seem to be resurfacing, perhaps due to the character the actress portrays in this year’s Best Picture winner, who shares a queer romance with Michelle Yeoh’s character in another universe.

While it’s impossible to determine someone’s sexuality without them ever stating it, Jamie Lee Curtis has never come out as part of the LGBTQ+ community. This means that, as far as the public knows, she does not seem to identify as gay. Furthermore, Curtis has been married to filmmaker Christopher Guest for almost four decades, with whom she raised two daughters.

Even so, the actress has shown her support for the queer community multiple times over the years — e.g., by helping to raise money for the American Foundation for Equal Rights, and participating in a tribute for the Orlando shooting victims in association with the Human Rights Campaign. Curtis has also been outspoken about trans rights, joining her daughter Ruby in the community’s fight against transphobic misinformation and anti-trans laws.
