Ever since it was revealed that Taylor Swift broke up with Joe Alwyn during the start of the Eras Tour, Swifties have been scrambling to find out what happened since people claimed the two to be “endgame.” But based on the social media activity of Swift’s friends have, it seemed like whatever happened between the two was less than amicable.
Following the breakup news, new relationship rumors have started to emerge. It was speculated that Swift is dating Matty Healy from The 1975. At first, the news was speculative, but more evidence has started to show that the two began might really be in a relationship.
Is Taylor Swift dating Matty Healy?
Healy and Swift first met in 2014. According to Q Magazine, the singer didn’t want to be known as “Taylor Swift’s” boyfriend and claimed that it was “emasculating.” He also told the press that the rumors were “ridiculous” as he denied the relationship. Despite his comments, the two were romantically linked at the time but described their relationship as platonic.
However, it seems like things have changed during, and perhaps leading up to the 2023 Eras Tour, and now it’s safe to say that the two are dating.
Back in May 2023, news of Swift’s new relationship started to emerge, just weeks after the news of her breakup with Alwyn. Fans thought this was just a joke or a rebound as Swift was seen looking at the paparazzi in front of a pack of her friends including Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, and the Haim sisters. Not to mention, how quickly the news of both the breakup and the new relationship was released.
It was also reported back in April that Swift was “handling the breakup well” and claimed that she wasn’t looking to date anyone for the time being and that she wanted to enjoy her freedom.
Weeks later, The Sun reported that the pop star was spotted during the Nashville leg of the Eras Tour, where sources claimed that the two were “madly in love.” Sources also told the Sun that the breakup happened back in February, months before the news came out.
“She and Matty are madly in love. It’s super-early days, but it feels right. They first dated, very briefly, almost ten years ago but timings just didn’t work out.
“Taylor and Joe actually split up back in February, so there was absolutely no crossover.”
It was also reported that during the Eras Tour and the 1975 concert in the Philippines, both Healy and Swift mouthed the words “This one is about you. You know who you are. I love you,” on stage during their concerts. Fans also spotted Healy in the audience during Swift’s second Nashville show, and the two were photographed together for the first time.
Recently, Swift and Healy were spotted together holding hands during a members-only event, according to People Magazine. Sources also told the publication that their relationship is no longer platonic and that they’re just “hanging out and having a good time.”
“Taylor is happy. She’s very focused on her tour but is enjoying hanging out with Matty when she is off. They’re hanging out and having a good time. It’s not just platonic.”
Swift and Healy have known each other for a very long time and it only took nearly a decade for them to give their relationship a shot.
