Kris Jenner brings Kim Kardashian’s trippy controversy to life (because being Benjamin Button wasn’t enough)

This will always be the case with the Kardashians.

Kris Jenner attended her mother’s milestone 91st birthday — but she ended up stealing the show when she appeared to have a sixth toe.

The Kardashian clan has always made sure to remind the public that nothing matters more to them than family. By all means, that’s admirable, and much of the public’s everlasting love for them can be attributed to that. But there’s also an equally strong attachment within the family to keeping up public appearances — appearances they themselves have curated to often ridiculous levels.

This time, Kris Jenner, 69, was caught trying to photoshop one of her Instagram photos. The birthday celebration for Jenner’s mother was held at The Ivy in Beverly Hills. All the stars were — as expected — invited, and some even showed up. Jenner arrived draped in a floral Oscar de la Renta gown, but when she posted a photo of her outfit on Instagram, she mysteriously had an extra toe.

In the comments, various people complimented her “Benjamin Button” youthful appearance. But a majority caught on to the doctoring the photo had clearly undergone to achieve that desired look. One person wrote, “Does she have 6 toes or am I trippin?” They were quickly assured they were indeed seeing exactly what they thought — and multiple publications soon followed suit.

AI photo editing is notorious for its glaring limitations. While it’s great at layering filters and correcting discoloration in teeth and eyes, whenever it has to deal with finer details — like features not in focus, such as tiny toes in a full-body shot — it tends to overcorrect and generate an entirely new toe. But it’s unlikely Jenner even knows what goes on with such novel technology. She probably had the edit done by an assistant who either cares very little or has a dark sense of humor. Page Six even hilariously reached out to Jenner’s reps for comment on the extra toe.

Unfortunately, the family didn’t respond, and we were denied the joy of what could’ve been an unintentional commentary on why there’s an extra toe on Kris Jenner’s foot. But we’ve been lucky before — like when Kim Kardashian photoshopped her niece’s face onto the body of her other niece. Apparently she did this because despite Kylie Jenner not wanting her child posted on social media, Kim explained, “Chi was wearing pink, and it matched perfectly (with her feed at the time).”

That, of course, was neither the first nor last time the Kardashians created a fuss online with their photoshop antics. What’s amusing is how fans still seem surprised every single time. Despite their faux political concerns and ever-growing business empires, they will always prioritize looking great online. They value being aspirational far more than being “real.” That’s the case now and will likely remain the case forever.

Kylie Jenner has had her own media gaffes — most notably when she briefly decided to be a billionaire before Forbes corrected the reporting. But since then, she’s been relatively open about even the procedures she’s undergone — so maybe a new dawn of Kardashian transparency is upon us. Then again… probably not.

Kris Jenner will likely just say her sixth toe also matched her Oscar de la Renta perfectly — and that’s why she brought it out this time.
