Nicolas Cage admits he bombed dinner with Sarah Jessica Parker’s mom, forever dooming their relationship

It spelled the end of their short love story.

According to People, The former couple worked together in the 1992 romantic comedy Honeymoon in Vegas, which is around the time they dated. The movie also featured a young Bruno Mars who played an Elvis Presley impersonator.

In a statement to E! News on Monday, Cage admitted that he likely failed to make a good first impression on Parker’s mother. “I cared about Sarah, but I don’t think I passed the Mom test,” Cage said. He remembered having dinner with Parker and her mother at the Russian Tea Room, suggesting that either his blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket or his sinusitis might have been the reason he never heard from Parker again.

Where are they now: Their current relationships and families

Cage, now 61, has been married five times, including a disastrous 4-day marriage to Erika Koike in 2019. His most recent marriage was to Riko Shibata in 2021, in a private ceremony in Las Vegas. The actor, whose real name is Nicolas Kim Coppola, has three children: Weston Cage Coppola, 34, with actress Christina Fulton; Kal-El Coppola, 19, with Alice Kim; and his youngest, daughter August Francesca Coppola Cage, whom he welcomed with current wife Shibata in September 2022.

Parker, 60, found lasting love with actor Matthew Broderick, who has been a beloved Hollywood figure since the early ’80s. The couple has been married since 1997, after having their first date in 1992. During her recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Parker shared that she knew early on that Broderick was the one for her, describing him as “incredible.”

The Sex and the City star was also the first to say “I love you” in their relationship with Broderick, explaining she had “nothing to lose” when making that romantic gesture. The couple now shares three children together.

Broderick has also spoken publicly about his relationship with Parker. During an April 2022 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, he recalled the first time he met her, saying he knew she was “it” when he saw her walking down the street. He also mentioned that what he admires most about Parker is her “humor and wisdom.”
