Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially dip their toes in the David Beckham family drama

Harry and Meghan apparently love family politics.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are inserting themselves into David Beckham’s family drama. The Sussexes hosted Brooklyn Beckham, son of Victoria and David Beckham, along with Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola Peltz, for dinner at their Montecito mansion.

The former royal couple were once pretty friendly with the Beckham clan. But it unfortunately didn’t last long, with the two couples falling out around the time the Sussexes stepped down from royal duties. Anyways, it seems the Sussexes have jumped at the chance to involve themselves in family drama that doesn’t revolve around them for once. According to a report from People, the pair invited Brooklyn and Nicola, who, by all accounts, have a strained relationship with David and Victoria after a massive feud.

It’s not what it looks like

Despite what it may seem, sources claim that “the timing is pure coincidence.” They elaborated, “While it was an intimate gathering, there were several additional guests, including VIPs and film executives.” Apparently, they had been invited prior to David’s birthday gala’s which Brooklyn and Nicola were noticeably absent from.

Of course, it does come at an awfully inconvenient time, as there are reportedly “tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family.” Considering the ongoing feud between the Beckhams and the Sussexes, it may well cause more animosity between the two families, further driving a wedge between the former friends.

Or perhaps that’s being too negative, maybe Harry and Meghan are looking to help Brooklyn fix his relationship with his parents, and maybe this will be the rekindling of Harry and David’s bromance once again. After all, Harry and Meghan are in a similar situation to Brooklyn and Nicola, perhaps they could offer some advice?

Why did Harry and Meghan fall out with the Beckhams?

As for why the two families are no longer on speaking terms, well, it’s complicated. Harry, Meghan, David, and Victoria were all pretty close at one point, however, Meghan began suspecting Victoria of leaking stories about her to the press. This culminated in a rather awkward phone call between Harry and David as the prince felt protective of his soon-to-be wife.

While they were able to put the matter behind them at the time, that was the beginning of the end. A few other snubs from Harry and Meghan seemingly deteriorated the relationship even further, but it wasn’t until the Sussexes started sharing negative stories about the royal family that the Beckhams finally washed their hands of them. Nowadays, the Sussexes and Beckhams are enemies more than anything.

David and Victoria Beckham have made their position clear as the former footballer has remained close friends with Prince William, while contact with Harry has been non-existent. Either way, it will be interesting to see how David and Victoria react to this latest development.
