‘The Marvels’ trolls nowhere to be seen as Apple drops first trailer for Brie Larson’s ‘Lessons in Chemistry’

And we thank God for that!

The first trailer for Lessons in Chemistry, Brie Larson‘s new television show for Apple TV Plus, has been revealed and the difference in reactions from the Marvels trailer unveiling a week ago could not be starker. It turns out that, if the piece of media Larson is involved in is in no way related to Marvel, the group of people set on sabotaging her might choose to take a day off.

The first look at The Marvels became Youtube’s most disliked trailer within 24 hours after it dropped, despite the general reception being quite positive. This sort of ugly mobilization is connected to the review bombing that has affected any Marvel production that is even slightly feminist or anti-troll, such as Captain Marvel or She-Hulk. Thankfully, though, Lessons in Chemistry seems to be enjoying the opposite response.

Fans online are already predicting Larson’s second Emmy will come from the Apple TV Plus series. Her first was shared with her fellow producers and executive producers of the virtual reality series The Messy Truth VR.

Fans of the actress are actually relieved Larson is keeping her distance from major franchises for a while with Lessons in Chemistry. Some had missed her taking part in smaller-scale ventures, like the unassuming 2015 independent film Room which earned her her Oscar.

Lessons in Chemistry is based on the bestselling novel by Bonnie Garmurs, about Elizabeth Zott, a scientist who is fired from her lab after becoming pregnant and goes on to host a cooking show on TV where she shares a lot more than recipes. Larson co-stars with Top Gun: Maverick‘s Lewis Pullman and How to Get Away with Murder‘s Aja Naomi King, and also executive produces.

The show arrives on Apple TV Plus this Fall.
