Fears for Marvel’s future and Tenoch Huerta’s career make it necessary to highlight a forgotten key fact

Huerta has been accused of sexual assault by activist María Elena Ríos.

Tenoch Huerta’s name has joined the scores of Hollywood actors who are facing allegations of assault. Inevitably, the news has left people drawing parallels to the whole Jonathan Majors fiasco as well as how the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever actor is the second Marvel star to face such accusations. But when some started bemoaning how the allegations would affect Huerta’s career, which had witnessed an upsurge with his MCU debut, as well as the Marvel Cinematic Universe, others had to point out that this also involves a “real life victim.”

The actor has been accused of sexual assault by Mexican saxophonist and activist María Elena Ríos. Seeing how Marvel is effectively choosing not to underline the presence of Majors, speculations that Huerta — who appeared as the villainous Namor in Wakanda Forever — is headed for a similar future were bound to take place sooner or later.

But what irked many were those who are unable to approach the sensitive issue with tact and are instead worried about how they might lose a Marvel character they really liked or are expressing concern about MCU’s future.

Huerta is yet to respond to the accusations where Ríos has called him a “sexual predator” and also established that she is not the only victim in this. While fans of the actor have surfaced to defend him against the accusations, many have chosen to support Ríos while refraining to point any fingers until the truth is properly confirmed.
