Whoopi Goldberg is taking shots at ‘Diablo IV’ and her reasoning couldn’t be more fair

For context, the 67-year-old has called out the company following the release of Diablo IV, which became available to purchase on June 6, because she was experiencing difficulties when trying to play the game on her Apple computer. In an Instagram Live shared the following day, Goldberg expressed how frustrating it was when she found that her Apple computer wasn’t compatible with the game. While mentioning she has been to play the earlier installments of Diablo on the same computer in the past, The View host said,

“Hey y’all I know there’s a lot of terrible things happening in the world but what I’m about to tell you is not on any scale like that. This is me fetching about my favorite game Diablo which has been taken off of Apple. I use Apple computers. That’s what I always used to play Diablo it’s my favorite gaming system. I like doing it on my computer and suddenly now Diablo IV is not available to me on my Apple computer.”

Diablo IV is available for several gaming consoles, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. At this time, it is unclear why Blizzard Entertainment chose to exclude Apple users from playing Diablo IV, other than the likely issue of compatibility. It remains unknown whether then developer intends to bring the game to the MacOS platform.

Further into the clip, Goldberg continued her rant by begging the company to allow Apple users to play the game because she, like many other Diablo fans, had already purchased the game thinking it would work correctly.

“I’ve already brought Diablo IV, so this is what I’m asking you Blizzard. Blizzard Entertainment, this is Whoopi. You know how much I love Diablo I would like y’all to let those of us who use our Apple [computers] to play, allow us to play… Take Diablo IV and let us do it and have a great time.”

In an attempt to come up with a reasonable bargain for Blizzard Entertainment, Goldberg told the company that if they were to give Apple users access to the game, the company would have the right to suggest during the next launch that those individuals switch to another gaming console if they want to participate in the activity. The Ghost star continued, as she described how excited she was to play because of its various promotions:

“Give me my [Diablo IV] because I paid for it. I was so excited for it. I went to play on it and I’m telling you this really pissed me off. I love my games. So let me keep my [Diablo] IV. Tell me next time, say,’we’re done on Apple.’ But let me have the [Diablo] IV. Let me play on the [Diablo] IV because you made me so excited for it.”

Goldberg wrapped up her statement by telling those that disagreed with her remarks, or didn’t feel that the topic the star was discussing was urgent that they should keep their opinions to themselves because they probably aren’t diehard Diablo fans. The Sister Act alum closed out the recording by sharing that although it doesn’t take much to get her riled up because she enjoys playing games in her downtime, this situation irked her, and she felt it was important to share.

Blizzard Entertainment has yet to publicly address Goldberg’s video.
