This ordeal all began on May 18, during Cyrus’ cover story with British Vogue magazine. In the interview, the 30-year-old opened up about various topics, including her struggles as a child star and the lessons she learned over the years. Cyrus, who has been a part of the entertainment industry for about two decades, would rise to fame after landing her lead role in Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana in 2006.

One year later, Cyrus would pursue her solo music career by releasing her debut album Meet Miley Cyrus. To date, the “Flowers” vocalist has released eight studio albums and has had six concert tours, four of which were reportedly worldwide. Cyrus’ last headlining tour was in 2014 for her Bangerz album. During the discussion, Cyrus shared she isn’t planning to promote her latest album, Endless Summer Vacation, with a tour simply because she doesn’t want to.

“It’s been a minute. After the last [headline arena] show I did [in 2014], I kind of looked at it as more of a question. And I can’t. Not only ‘can’t.’ Because can’t is your capability, but my desire. Do I want to live my life for anyone else’s pleasure or fulfilment other than my own? And, you know what…”

On May 24, as Cyrus’ comments circulated online and created a frenzy among fans, the star took to her Twitter account to clarify her previous interview remarks.

In the post, the “See You Again” singer shared that although she appreciates her fans and is “constantly creating and innovating new ways” to remain connected to them, she doesn’t want to tour because of the hassle it would take to travel with her clothes, having to get ready in a locker room, and sleeping on a tour bus.

“For clarity, I feel connected to my fans NOW more than ever. Even if I don’t see them face to face every night at a concert, my fans are felt deeply in my heart…This has nothing to do with a lack of appreciation for the fans & everything to do with I simply don’t want to get ready in a locker room. Which is the reality of life on the road. These looks I’ve been [trying] don’t travel well. The archival looks don’t fold. I just don’t want to sleep on a moving bus. It isn’t what’s best for me right now.”

At this time, no additional details have been released to the public.
