10 Fantastic Superheroes From The Future

For a genre that continually reboots itself to retain the status quo, superhero comics sure do spend a lot of time wondering what will happen to their characters down the road. Visiting an alternate vision of the timeline or some dark – sometimes it’s good, but mostly not - future is a favourite pastime of many comic books. Naturally, then, a heap of superheroes who are citizens of centuries into the future have been created over the years, usually finding their way back into the past - er, present - to meet up with the original heroes that inspired them.

Possibly more than any other hero on this list, Booster Gold is defined by the fact that he’s from the future. A living embodiment of the theory that advanced science is indistinguishable from magic (or, in this case, superpowers), Booster’s uses his future technology to masquerade as a superhero in the present.

Originally from 25th century Gotham City, Booster Gold AKA Michael Jon Carter is initially a gloryhound from the future who steals a load of tech – with his robot sidekick Skeets – and travels back to the past to achieve fame and fortune by becoming a vigilante. Over time, however, his greediness abates and he discovers the true hero underneath.

Booster Gold, along with his frequent partner in crime-fighting Blue Beetle, is a true fan favourite. The wider world might get to know him soon enough, too, if the purported movie from Arrowverse EP Greg Berlanti ever gets off the ground.
