After facing a long bout with a rare form of pancreatic cancer, the co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, has died at the age of 56.
Jobs had been affected by the disease since his diagnosis in 2004, causing him to take many leaves from his job to deal with his health. Finally, he stepped down as CEO of Apple this past August, passing the job onto Tim Cook. Apple has posted the following statement on their website:
Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple.
