Woman ordered pizza, but when the door opened, 2 cops were holding it. She thought it was a joke

Glad they didn’t help themselves to her pizza.

A pizza delivery in Tempe, Arizona took a strange turn on July 4 when two police officers showed up at a customer’s door instead of her Grubhub driver. The officers were there to finish a food delivery after arresting the original driver during a traffic stop.

The Tempe Police Department shared body camera footage of the unusual delivery on their social media accounts. The video quickly became popular online as viewers liked the officers’ decision to make sure the customer still got her meal. The incident happened after police pulled over a Grubhub driver for traffic problems near Rural Road and E Gilbert Drive.

When the customer, a woman named Brandy, opened her door, she was clearly surprised to see two uniformed officers holding her pizza box. According to the New York Post, after the officers checked her name, one of them explained what happened by saying, “So your GrubHub guy got arrested, so we still delivered your pizza.” The customer’s mouth dropped open in shock at the news. Even with the strange situation, she thanked the officers, telling them, “I really appreciate the pizza.” One officer told her that the food “should still be warm.”

What happened to the driver

The Tempe Police Department said the delivery driver was arrested on charges of reckless driving and racing. The officers found the pizza order in the vehicle while they were handling the arrest. Instead of letting the food go to waste or leaving the customer waiting, they decided to finish the delivery themselves.

The police department shared the video with a funny caption on their social media pages. They wrote that the order was “Hot-N-Ready” and the suspect was “Caught-N-Steady.” The department added that they work to serve their community all day and night, whether it involves safety or pizza delivery. Just like how a police sketch became popular and helped solve a case, this video showed how social media can show unexpected moments in law enforcement.

A Grubhub spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the company was thankful to the officers for finishing the delivery. However, the spokesperson also said they were worried about the driver’s arrest. The video of the delivery got a lot of attention online, with many social media users praising the officers for their kind action. While this incident had a good ending, delivery drivers sometimes face difficult situations while making deliveries.

The incident showed a lighter side of police work. While the officers were doing their job by making an arrest for serious traffic violations, they also took the time to make sure a customer’s Independence Day meal was not ruined by what happened. The video showed that police work includes both enforcement and community service.
