After running the iconic characters’ names through mud with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Training Lair, the powers that be have announced a new game starring the Heroes in a Half-Shell. It’s called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze, and will come to us from both Activision and WayForward Technologies (DuckTales Remastered, Double Dragon Neon).

In true WayForward tradition, Danger of the Ooze is a two-dimensional side-scrolling beat ’em-up, which will harken back to the license’s rich gaming history and allow for all four heroes to be cycled through at will. The downside here is that the title will be based not on classic Ninja Turtles lore, but the time between seasons two and three of Nickelodeon’s series.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze is in the works for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo 3DS, with no word pertaining to a PS Vita version. As of right now, it’s pencilled in for a Fall 2014 release.
