From the eye-popping visuals glimpsed throughout Battlefield 4 to the crisp, razor-sharp sound design featured in Star Wars Battlefront, DICE is a studio synonymous with pushing the envelope in the technical space. Taking things to the next level is Battlefield 1, the developer’s latest entry that steers EA’s visceral juggernaut back to The Great War.

Due to arrive for PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 21, two weeks ago DICE hosted a public beta test allowing would-be early adopters to take the period shooter out for a spin. It went down a storm, too, attracting a staggering 13.2 million players and spotlighting a variety of technical niggles that the developer will now set about fixing.

Make no mistake, the Battlefield 1 creative team are now entering crunch time ahead of launch – if they weren’t knee-deep already – but we do have word of the minimum and required system specs for those on the hunt for the PC version. You can have a gander at the technical minutia, below.

Minimum System Requirements:

OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
Processor (AMD): AMD FX-6350
Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K
Memory: 8GB RAM
Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB
Graphics card (Nvidia): Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB
DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent
Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
Hard-drive space: 50GB

Recommended System Requirements:

OS: 64-bit Windows 10 or later
Processor (AMD): AMD FX 8350 Wraith
Processor (Intel): Intel Core i7 4790 or equivalent
Memory: 16GB RAM
Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon RX 480 4GB
Graphics card (Nvidia): Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB
DirectX: 11.1 Compatible video card or equivalent
Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection
Available Disk Space: 50GB

All in all, these requirements hail from the higher end of the spectrum – this is a DICE game, after all – but a 50GB file size does seem fairly manageable on paper.

Battlefield 1 is penciled in for launch on October 21 when DICE will beckon PC, Xbox One and PS4 players back to throes of World War I. Those on the latter two platforms can be in with a chance of winning a copy of the upcoming shooter by entering our latest contest, the details of which can be found here.
