BioWare Kicks Off New Mass Effect: Andromeda Gameplay Series With A Look At Combat

As promised, BioWare has today released a new gameplay video for Mass Effect: Andromeda that gives fans an in-depth look at the many options their own Pathfinder will have to combat the various threats encountered during exploration of the Andromeda galaxy. Set to continue building on the foundation put down by Mass Effect 3, Andromeda will have fast-paced but strategic combat, with BioWare providing more tools than ever to help you on your way.

Besides the introduction of a “dynamic cover system,” players will now be able to utilize a jump jet pack attached to their suit during battles in order to facilitate mobility and quick terrain traversal, which feeds into the eclectic range of weaponry on offer. Pistols, shotguns, sniper/assault rifles and melee weapons are all showcased in the footage, with BioWare confirming that there are no class restrictions on who can use what.

Additionally, three different weapon types will be available. For an example, Milky Way weapons will utilize ammo clips and traditional projectiles, and are geared towards shredding enemy shields efficiently. Tech, Combat and Biotic skills make a return, too, with each one championing a specific playstyle. The Biotic tree certainly looks the most flashy, and bestows the power to manipulate gravity and mass on a whim to devastating effect. For a detailed rundown of everything mentioned above, see the video above.

This is the first in a new series of gameplay clips being released in the run-up to Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s release on March 21st, so expect more to arrive over the next few weeks. If you just can’t wait until next month to get your hands on the game, EA’s offering early access to the RPG for PC and Xbox One owners.
