6 Tips To Help You Get A Head Start In Destiny 2

After three excruciating years of patient waiting, Guardians the world over finally have a brand new adventure awaiting them in the form of Destiny 2. For both Bungie and its community, the road to realizing that eventuality has been a long - and often times bumpy - one fraught with delays, stopgaps and promises of a bigger, better and more cohesive universe to explore.

3) Keep An Eye Out For Chests

Whether you like it or not, you’re going to be doing a metric tonne of walking and sprinting during the course of Destiny 2‘s campaign. With Guardian’s First Sparrow locked behind level 20 content, you’ll have no choice but to utilize those two appendages you call feet to get around the solar system, but it’s not all bad.

The decision to lock vehicular transport behind the main story is clearly an attempt by Bungie to encourage players to take in the sights and indulge in a session or two of exploration between missions, so you may as well make the most of that digital exercise and keep an eye out for treasure chests. That is, after all, what Destiny‘s endgame has always been about, isn’t it?

Crates containing faction tokens, armor, weapons and other miscellanies can often be found in plain sight while you’re out and about saving the galaxy from annihilation, but elite enemies (stronger versions of basic units) also drop them upon death. Besides loot, there’s a secondary benefit to doing this. Upon completing the introductory ‘Homecoming’ mission, your Guardian will be stripped of all its powers and abilities, including subclasses. One of these – Dawnblade, Sentinel or Arcstrider, depending on your class – will be unlocked in the very next story mission, but reacquiring those from Destiny 1 will require obtaining a certain item from looting treasure chests.

These are level locked, but the first can be found through the above method any time after reaching level seven and you’ll want to get hold of it post-haste, as you’ll be required to slay a certain number of enemies before being able to unlock the subclass for keeps.
