Starting tomorrow, July 4, the shooter’s monthly Iron Banner event returns once again, boasting a treasure trove of lucrative gear rewards for those eager to test their mettle against other Guardians. As usual, your first port of call, once the event kicks off, will be Lady Efrideet, one of the legendary Iron Lords that’s taken up residence in the snow covered Iron Temple. The seasoned warrior will grant several bounties for you to complete within the Crucible, with random armor and weapons awarded upon completion.

In regards to the rules, this particular iteration of the event will be adopting the Mayhem Clash mode, so brace yourselves for solar powered hammers and Golden Guns galore for the next seven days. Persevere through the chaotic mode and you’ll emerge on the other side to reap the spoils of war. Chest armor, gauntlets, sidearms and rocket launchers are up for grabs – either as post-match drops or from Efrideet herself – all of which will come at a Light level appropriate to your own.

Chances are, if you’re still regularly playing Destiny, you’ll have reached the level cap long ago, but if you’re still chasing a few Iron Banner achievements in the Age of Triumph record book, this will be your last chance to do so before the August 1 deadline.

Following one final Iron Banner event next month, Bungie will be putting the brakes on that and Trials of Osiris, as the developer has stated that both will be “going into hibernation before reemerging” for the sequel.

Destiny 2 is out September 6 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC launch scheduled for the slightly later date of October 24. If you just can’t wait until then, Bungie plans to hold a console beta for the title later this month.
