Dishonored 2’s New Game Plus Mode Now Available On Xbox One, PS4 And PC As Free Update

Dishonored 2's New Game Plus mode is now available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC as part of the stealth title's first free update, publisher Bethesda has announced. You may have long since reclaimed the throne of the Empire of the Isles as either Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano, but the coastal city of Karnaca still has a great deal of entertainment to offer, should you choose to return. Upon your first completion of the game as either protagonist, the new mode will be immediately unlocked, allowing players to go through the story once more with all "each hero's full suite of abilities plus all the Bonecharm Traits and Runes collected from your previous playthrough," says the press release.

Released last month on the aforementioned platforms, We Got This Covered’s Chad Goodmurphy gave Arkane’s sequel to the original Dishonored four and a half stars out of five in his review, stating that “Dishonored 2 had a lot of high expectations to live up to…Not only is it a great game in its own right, but it also exists as a fantastic sequel that expands upon its predecessor in multiple memorable ways.” Despite the positive reception though, Dishonored 2‘s PC version suffered from several performance issues post-release, although judging by the game’s Steam page, it appears as if Arkane has rectified most causes for concern.

In regards to future updates, fans can expect a second free patch to go live at some point in January, which includes two new features: Mission Select and additional Custom Difficulty Settings. The latter will allow players to further adjust the challenge to suit personal tastes.

Arkane has yet to confirm whether it plans to release paid-for DLC for Dishonored 2, but considering the warm reception the first game’s expansions received, we’ll be surprised if such things aren’t already in the works.

Stay tuned.
