Last week, Techland released a media-only teaser for its upcoming and unannounced Dying Light expansion. Of course, despite warnings that it wasn’t to be published, the trailer still found its way onto the open Internet and created some buzz.

Now, several days later, we have official information to share with you, including the expansion’s name and a quote from its developers. That, as well as a couple of 4K screenshots, which look incredibly badass.

Dubbed Dying Light: The Following, the awkwardly titled expansion will not only introduce open plains, but drivable buggies as well. And, being that this is a zombie game through and through, it’s exciting to think of what adding vehicles to the formula will do. That’s especially true when it comes to nighttime, which has always been a big part of the Dying Light experience, as the game’s zombies tend to get much more ferocious once the sun goes down.

“For Dying Light: The Following we’re adding a number of bold game-changers to create one massive expansion. Something big that will give the game a brand-new flavor. The new map alone is the same size as all the previous maps from Dying Light combined, so there is a lot we’re packing in here.

We also kept a close eye on player feedback to help tailor what we’ve created here. Hopefully people will see that this new expansion is first and foremost, for the fans.”

– Tymon Smektala, producer, Dying Light: The Following

Stay tuned for more information pertaining to Dying Light: The Following, which will be playable at this year’s Gamescom expo.
