Is Super Mario Galaxy finally heading to the Wii U’s Virtual Console? That seems to be the case, so long as a newly-discovered ESRB rating is correct.

The rating itself is devoid of any real information, but it does feature “Wii U” alongside Nintendo’s original Wii console under the term, “Platform.” That’s enough to suggest that the game is going to be made available for download through the Wii U’s eShop, although it also tells us that this won’t be a remaster or remake. If that were the case, we’d be looking at a separate listing, and not just a system’s name having been added to a game’s original rating page.

This is great news for those who have yet to play Super Mario Galaxy and aren’t interested in buying games physically anymore, although given that the Wii U is backwards compatible, you’d think that a lot of folks would’ve just gone with a cheap disc instead of waiting all this time.

Either way, we’re definitely looking forward to this, and you should be, too.
