They may have divided the loyal Final Fantasy devotees when first released back in 2001 and 2003, but there’s no doubting that Final Fantasy X & X-2 have proven their worth following the recent remastered release on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. But Sony isn’t stopping there, as the publisher is gearing up to bring the heart-wrenching tale of Tidus and Yuna to PlayStation 4 in May, and today we have a new trailer to prove it.
Priced at $49.99 over on Amazon, those who decide to pre-order the remastered compilation ahead of time will get their hands on an exclusive desktop calendar at no extra cost, boasting some of the artwork from series stalwart Yoshitaka Amano, the Japanese illustrator who has worked on Square’s legendary franchise numerous times in the past.
As for the HD collection itself, there isn’t much to speak of in terms of new features, other than the ability to switch between the original soundtrack from more than a decade ago and the retuned score of today.
Return to Spira once more when Final Fantasy X & X-2 HD graces PlayStation 4 on May 12 and May 15 in North America and Europe, respectively. Until then, tell us, do you plan on picking up Square’s re-re-release?
