Acting as the first of two planned expansions for the critically-acclaimed title, the add-on will make its bow across consoles and PC platforms on October 13 with an asking price of $8.50 (£7.00). If you simply can’t wait to return to the Northern Kingdoms, though, the studio is hosting a 15% discount on the DLC should you choose to pre-order.

Heralding the return of badass witcher Geralt of Rivia, Hearts of Stone introduces new quest lines to complete, monsters to slay, romances to pursue and, er ghosts to party with.

Step again into the shoes of Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster slayer, this time hired to defeat a ruthless bandit captain, Olgierd von Everec, a man who possesses the power of immortality. The expansion lets you choose your own way through an adventure that includes recruiting a crew of break-in artists, spending a night partying with a ghost and outsmarting the most bizarre creatures Geralt has ever faced.

But Hearts of Stone is merely a taster of what to expect from The Witcher III: Wild Hunt‘s post-launch content, with the true motherload arriving early next year by way of the Blood & Wine expansion. Tethered with an asking price of $20, CD Projekt Red claims that together the duo of DLC packs boasts enough content to rival The Witcher II.

Prepare to return to The Witcher III: Wild Hunt when Hearts of Stone launches on October 13.
