As promised, Rockstar Games has released three character trailers for Grand Theft Auto V today, giving us a glimpse into the home life of the highly-anticipated sequel’s three playable characters; Michael, Franklin, and Trevor.

While the trailers do not completely spell out the relationships between the main characters, they do reveal that the three protagonists could not be more different from each other. Michael describes himself as “rich and miserable”, because he “wants to be a good dad, love his family, live the dream” but at the same time he can’t let go of his life of crime. Franklin appears to be very much in line with GTA: San Andreas‘ CJ, as he just wants to “make some paper and not get killed” but is trapped in the gangster life. Trevor, on the other hand, is pretty much a strung out, straight up crazy, white trash hillbilly.

It is an interesting dynamic between the three characters, to say the least.

I’ve sort of had a bit of an” on-again, off-again” relationship with the Grand Theft Auto series over the years. Typically, I’m relatively intrigued with the story and characters in the games, but put off by what I consider to be sloppy controls. Grand Theft Auto V‘s three character approach has certainly grabbed my attention, and the game world looks like a fun and varied place to explore. Here’s hoping that all the gameplay aspects of GTA V live up to what we have seen in all the trailers up to this point. I would love nothing more than to have this game be the one that makes me an official Grant Theft Auto fan.

Grand Theft Auto V is currently scheduled to completely screw up the launch of the PlayStation 4 and next-gen Xbox by releasing on September 17th for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Check out the Michael, Franklin, and Trevor character trailers embedded below, and let us know your thoughts on the upcoming blockbuster in the comments section.
