It looks as though Sumo Digital have themselves A Bit of Fry & Laurie, after the studio took to PlayStation Blog to announce that House actor Hugh Laurie will reunite with his former comedy partner, Stephen Fry, for LittleBigPlanet 3.

According to the post, the British actor joins the cast as the villainous Newton and is, essentially, the rather posh ying to Stephen Fry’s yang.

“We have naturally always been big fans of Stephen Fry, so when it came to deciding upon a voice to act as his dastardly counterpart, we couldn’t help but think that bringing Hugh Laurie on as the voice of Newton would be just the perfect double act for LittleBigPlanet 3. We couldn’t be happier to have him on-board!”

This marks Hugh Laurie first foray into the video game industry as an actor. He said he was attracted to the role precisely because he has never done anything like it before. And so, joining the revered duo for the studio’s upcoming threequel are Shaun of the Dead star, Peter Serafinowicz, Tara Strong, Alan Partridge and the seemingly omnipresent Nolan North — aka Uncharted’s Nathan Drake.

Due to release later this year across PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, LittleBigPlanet 3 will be the first entry into the beloved series that introduces four player co-op — with budding world creators having the chance to join Sackboy as either Swoop, Toggle, or Oddsock. Each of these new cuddly personalities bring unique abilities to the table, too, and certain maps will require all four characters to work in harmony if they are to avoid the malicious pitfalls set up by Laurie’s lightbulb-like Newton.

LittleBigPlanet 3 launches for PS4 and PS3 on November 18th and November 19th across North America and the United Kingdom, respectively.
