New Apex Legends Patch Fixes Havoc Rifle Exploit, Removes Season 1 Stats

Apex Legends appears to have finally hit its stride with Season 2. Respawn, having struggled to regularly update and patch its battle royale following an unprecedented successful launch, has found its groove in providing continued and frequent support to the thousands visiting Kings Canyon on a daily basis. The timing couldn't be better, either, what with the recent arrival of its biggest content update yet assuredly requiring attentive care.

By and large, Season 2: Battle Charge has so far required little in the way of emergency fixes or the like, but it’s certainly not without fault. One such issue addressed with today’s patch pertains to the Havoc rifle introduced way back in Season 1. More specifically, the tweak puts a stop to its unintended ability to fire in full-auto mode without having to endure a charge sequence. Normally, players are required to slowly gather energy in the barrel before unleashing it on the next poor soul they come across, functionality that should now be restored.

Said exploit was discovered shortly after Season 2 going live, leaving fans wondering whether the change was simply a buff that Respawn neglected to mention. That’s clearly not the case, as it turns out.

As for the remaining tweaks included, unintended quirks including performance issues and video playback errors should now be a thing of the past, as too, are the entirety of Season 1’s stats. Respawn notes that the latter has been removed in order for it to “work on some issues with it,” though ensures fans that the change is only temporary.

That about wraps things up in regards to the adjustments of major importance, though feel free to peruse the entire patch notes below. It’s worth noting that no anti-cheating measures accompany today’s Apex Legends update, though the developer certainly isn’t ignoring the issue. See here for its proposed list of methods in tackling the problem.

  • Fixed issue where Lifeline’s D.O.C.’s Shock Finisher preview video not playing when viewed from the menu.

  • Fixed issue with text overflow on the stats page.

  • Fixed some cases of crashes related to game logic, client, and script errors.

  • Fixed cases of players being set in non-optimal data centers.

  • Season 1 stats have been temporarily removed as we work on some issues with it.

  • Fixed bug where players would unlock the level 94 Battle Pass reward before they should [Octane’s loading screen].

  • Fixed exploit where the HAVOC could fire full auto without charging up.

  • Fixed some cases of the Care Package clipping through map geometry.
