Launch Trailer For Sunset Overdrive Ushers In The Awesomepocalypse

With little over a week until its release, Insomniac Games has unveiled the bombastic, no-holds-barred launch trailer for Sunset Overdrive.

The Xbox One exclusive is due to arrive on October 28th, and is one of the key titles for Microsoft going into the holiday season. Taking place within an idiosyncratic and unusually colourful post-apocalyptic landscape, Insomniac’s latest shooter pits players against the villainous OD’d — humans that have succumbed to an uncontrollable virus that turns them into hulking, mutated beasts.

What gives Sunset Overdrive its unique selling point is the game’s emphasis on traversal, with every nook and cranny of Sunset City — the title’s fictional setting — designed in a way that encourages players to parkour around the urban environment kicking seven shades of orange out of the OD’d as you go.

From the trailer, we can gather that Insomniac’s open-world title also offers up a tonne of customization options, and here’s hoping the studio have some Easter Eggs hidden away that refer to their previous IPs. After all, these are the guys who brought to life some of gaming’s most memorable weaponry across Ratchet & Clank, Outernauts and the Resistance series.
