When CI Games confirmed that Lords of the Fallen 2 was indeed in development a fortnight ago, many were surprised that co-developer Deck 13 wasn’t to be involved. Fast forward to now and it appears we have a conclusive answer to the studio’s absence, after it revealed its all new IP in partnership with Focus Home Interactive.

And that’s it, really. Aside from the teaser image glimpsed above, there’s little-to-no information relating to the title or a potential release window. What we do know is that Deck 13’s latest property will play as a dystopian sci-fi RPG for PS4, Xbox One and PC – because the industry doesn’t have enough of those already – with plans to serve up more details for this piecemeal announcement soon.

With E3 2015 within touching distant, it’s more than likely the German developer will blow the lid of during next week’s trade show, or keep the mysterious title in the shadows until its native Gamescom event in August. Whatever the case, both Deck 13 and Focus Home are overly excited about the new IP, which will herald “original character progression” and “innovative combat mechanics.”

Per GameSpot:

“We are ecstatic to announce this new partnership with one of the very best independent European development studios,” Focus Home managing partner Cedric Lagarrigue said in a statement. “We’ve been excited by Deck 13’s new project since our first exchange with them, and as we’ve just got through the pre-production phase, we’re fully convinced by their capacities to deliver one of the most exciting RPGs to come in the future.”

It’s difficult to judge Deck 13‘s latest based on what we have. Mind you, when you factor in the somewhat surprising success of Lords of the Fallen last year, it’s fair to say the studio has earned the benefit of the doubt.
