Ahead of its release next week, Avalanche has unleashed a TV spot for its Mad Max adaptation that showcases the Wasteland in all its chaotic glory.

Showcasing deranged bandits, vehicular mayhem and the grizzled Road Warrior himself, the all-too-brief teaser amps up the tension, with players having to scour the sun-scorched sands of the studio’s licensed title to carve out a means of survival. That means completing missions for different camps across the arid environment in true open-world fashion.

Perhaps the most intriguing facet of Mad Max, though, is Avalanche’s approach to storytelling. As detailed in last week’s extensive trailer, the studio has implemented a branching narrative into the adventure game, meaning that players will discover numerous ways to approach a situation depending on their chosen style of play.

From siding with a particular faction in the game to carrying out missions using different strategies, Avalanche has merely teased the extent of this multi-faceted story, and we’re cautiously optimistic for the studio’s take on George Miller’s seminal post-apocalyptic franchise.

Mad Max will bring a world of fire and blood to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC when Avalanche’s licensed title arrives on September 1.

Mad Max is an open world, third-person action game where players become Mad Max, a lone warrior in a savage post-apocalyptic world where cars are the key to survival. In The Wasteland, it’s every man for himself. Playing as the reluctant warrior, players must embark on a treacherous journey to build the ultimate war vehicle and leave the madness behind.
