Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood only released just over a week ago but already there are rumors floating around of the next official installment of the series coming next year. During a financial briefing call, Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft said “There will be something around Assassin’s,” He cryptically continues, “That’s the only thing we can say.

While not a confirmation, Ubisoft has said in the past that they would like to make the franchise annual with executives stating during the call that this is their “ultimate goal”. With two years of development between the first and second game and only one year between the second and Brotherhood, could we already see a proper Assassin’s Creed 3? Or is this going to just be a comic book or another spin off?

The more important question is what would annual releases mean for the franchise? We’ve all seen what annual releases do to franchises in the long-run (*cough* Guitar Hero *cough* Tony Hawk) but so far, reviews of Brotherhood have been largely positive so at this point in the franchise’s life, another installment so soon may not be a terrible thing. But before we start dreaming of where the next Assassin’s will take place, let’s wait for an official confirmation from Ubisoft.
