Yes, it may be sporting a new – and later than advertised – release date, but adorers of Tolkien’s fantasy universe shouldn’t be concerned, as Shadow of War is shaping up to be a worthy successor to the original in every department. Dual protagonists Talion and Celebrimbor are set to return for another crusade against the Dark Lord Sauron and his cronies in the sequel, but Monolith is promising that everything will be bigger and better this time around.

Given what we’ve seen so far of its sprawling world and expanded Nemesis System, it’s hard not to believe that’s going to be the case, but just in case you still had questions waiting to be answered in regards to Shadow of War‘s ambitious narrative, wonder no more – today’s trailer has you covered. You can check out the visual spectacle for yourselves above, which documents the forging of the New Ring as a means to combat Sauron and his legions.

Shadow of War is out October 10 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, with several special editions currently available to pre-order. That includes the lavish Mithril Edition, which comes packed with all sorts of goodies, including premium packaging, several Nemesis Expansions and a 12″ Balrog vs. Drake statue.

Expect a whole lot more info for Middle-Earth: Shadow of War to spill out the doors of this year’s E3, which officially kicks off next week.
