A second map might be coming to Fortnite. At least, that’s according to popular streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins.
The much loved gamer dropped word of the new map during a stream earlier this morning, explaining that it’s being built specially for an upcoming event that he’s taking part of. Said event will go down on March 16th and according to Ninja, he’ll be playing Fortnite there along with Jung Chanwoo from iKON.
“I’m going to be headed to New York on March 16 to play with [Jung Chanwoo from iKON]…on a brand new map exclusive to Fortnite. That’s right, a brand new map, literally built for this event.”
What’s currently unclear is whether this map will be used only for the event or if Epic will eventually roll it out to the general public. We imagine it might be kept exclusive at least for a while, but with March 16th not too far away now, we should find out soon enough.
In the meantime, Season 8 continues apace and seems to be going down very well with the Fortnite fanbase. That’s a good thing, too, as Apex Legends is quickly rising up as the genre’s most popular title, now having passed the 50 million players mark. Of course, it’s still got a ways to go if it’s to truly catch Epic’s battle royale king, but it’s nice to see that the developer is aware of the competition and doing everything they can to keep Fortnite feeling fresh and exciting.
Circling back to the aforementioned new map though, and like we said above, there’s no word on if it’ll eventually make its way into the game proper, but we’ll certainly let you know as soon as we hear more.
