The Last of Us: Remastered

The Last Of Us Will Be Performed On Stage For One Night Only

When Naughty Dog released their apocalyptic odyssey The Last Of Us, reviews unanimously declared it as one of gaming's greatest achievements. One critic went as far as calling it the Citizen Kane of gaming, which sounded incredibly hyperbolic at the time, but in reality couldn't be any closer to the truth. Simply put, The Last Of Us is an experience unlike no other, and one that has pushed the medium forward for the better.

When Naughty Dog released their apocalyptic odyssey The Last Of Us, reviews unanimously declared it as one of gaming’s greatest achievements. One critic went as far as calling it the Citizen Kane of gaming, which sounded incredibly hyperbolic at the time, but in reality couldn’t be any closer to the truth. Simply put, The Last Of Us is an experience unlike no other, and one that has pushed the medium forward for the better.

With that in mind, I am surprised but also not so surprised to hear that the game will now be performed at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, California for one night only. Naughty Dog is arguably the most ambitious team of developers in the gaming industry today, so why wouldn’t they take their masterpiece of storytelling and present it to a new audience?

It’s also very interesting for fans of the game in general. The show will feature the game’s director, Neil Druckmann, coaching voice actors Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, Merle Dandridge, Hana Hayes, and Annie Wersching through select scenes of the game complete with live music from Gustavo Santaolalla’s beautiful score.

Here’s where things get really cool, though. Obviously, not everyone can make a trip to California just to see a live performance of The Last Of Us, so Sony will be streaming the event through Twitch, Youtube, and PSN’s Live Event Viewer.

The data is set for Monday, July 28th at 9PM Eastern Time. Check out the trailer below and let us know if you’ll be watching.
