Not to be outdone by Bethesda, Japanese giant Square Enix has booked its place for E3 2015, after the publisher today confirmed plans to host its own press conference on June 16. Set to kick things off at 9am PT/12pm ET, the company has promised an ‘exciting slate of games coming out in 2015 and beyond,’ with a few surprises thrown in for good measure.
So, what can we expect from the publisher? Well, buoyed by the success of Type-0 and the Episode Duscae demo for Final Fantasy XV, we can readily expect a barrage of news relating to the FF universe. Could this mean a sequel to the PSP remaster? Time will ultimately tell. As for XV, all signs point to Square Enix finally nailing down a release date for the anticipated sequel. Moreover, Final Fantasy XIV will likely get some love, too, considering that the Heavensward expansion is slated for June 23.
Beyond that, it’s possible that we’ll learn more about the company’s western wares, including the recently-unveiled Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and while Square Enix acts as publisher for Crystal Dynamic’s modern Tomb Raider series, it’s more likely that Rise of the Tomb Raider will be reserved for Microsoft’s conference.
With little over two months to go, we can readily expect to learn more about the press conference dates for Sony, Microsoft, EA and Ubisoft. Meanwhile, Square Enix will take to the stage on June 16. Please be excited.
