The legendary birds from Pokémon‘s first generation of games are soon to be available for distribution for players of the 3DS generation of titles. Distribution times and methods for numerous European countries have been confirmed for the end of March, with more expected to follow.

UK-based players, for example will be able to grab one of the birds at random by visiting a Smyths Toys superstore between March 22nd and April 11th and receiving a code from staff members. The code will be redeemable within a Pokémon X & Y or Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire game and will see a randomized legend sent to your save game.

The birds will carry their hidden abilities when sent to the game; Moltres will have Flame Body, Zapdos will carry Static and Articuno will have its Snow Cloak ability. These abilities are usually difficult to obtain, with the birds most often all carrying the Pressure ability.

So far the legendary bird distribution is confirmed for Pokémon players in the UK and many other European countries, and we’ll be sure to bring you more on other regions as it comes to us.
