Ryse: Son of Rome’s new downloadable content, titled Mars’ Chosen Pack, will arrive on February 28 and will includes five new maps, a new character skin and a new game mode.

The new Survival mode pits two players against an endless wave of enemies. You won’t get much breathing room, however, since health depletes over time and can only be recovered by performing executions. As more rounds pass, the rate of health depletion increases, in addition to the gold and experience that players can earn.

Firestorm, Dockyard and Courtyard are the three included maps which have been designated for the new mode. The two remaining maps, Pyramid and Obelisk, take place in ancient Egypt and are playable in Arena Mode. Conversely, the final new addition is the Legionary skin, which has not been revealed as of yet.

“The best part yet is how we approached building the maps for Survivor mode. Each map makes it a distinctly different experience. Firestorm is all about tight corridors and creating choke points to keep you from getting swarmed, while Dockyard has wide open spaces with indestructible catapults raining projectiles down on you. What is even more exciting are some of the additional Survivor mode maps that will be coming in future add-ons, which take this new gameplay mode even further,” Senior Producer Justin Robey said.

Mars’ Chosen Pack will cost you $9 but season pass holders can download it for free.
