Shantae: Half-Genie Hero Coming To PS Vita & Vita TV

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, the recently revealed sidescrolling action game from developer WayForward, was recently announced via a Kickstarter campaign last week. The game was confirmed for just about every current and upcoming home console, including the Wii U, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the PC, via Steam. Believe it or not, the roster of systems the company is planning to port the game to has grown even bigger, as a recent update on the game's Kickstarter page has announced plans to bring the game to both the PS Vita and the recently announced PS Vita TV.

The addition of Sony’s portable platforms is not an additional bonus goal, but one that will be included along with every other version, so long as the game reaches its target goal of $400,000. As of this post, it’s currently at over $230,000 with 22 days to go, so its chances of success look pretty solid.

Half-Genie Hero is currently slated to be the fourth entry in the Shantae franchise, which combines action platforming with Metroid and Castlevania-esque environment exploration. Previous titles in the series appeared on the Game Boy Color, DSi, and iOS, with another upcoming entry, Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse, slated for release on the 3DS sometime this winter.
