Wii U owners who haven't already tried out Shantae and the Pirate's Curse since its launch on the 3DS back in October will soon have another way to play the latest entry in the action-adventure series from developer WayForward, as it has just been confirmed that the game will launch on the home console's eShop on December 25 for $19.99.

Wii U owners who haven’t already tried out Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse since its launch on the 3DS back in October will soon have another way to play the latest entry in the action-adventure series from developer WayForward, as it has just been confirmed that the game will launch on the home console’s eShop on December 25 for $19.99.

Besides sporting the same stylish pixel art as the original handheld version, this version will offer a few enhancements, such as high-def character portrait art, off-TV play on the Wii U GamePad, and multiple control options (GamePad, Classic Controller Pro, and Wii U Pro Controller).

Our review of the 3DS version praised Pirate’s Curse for improvements over its predecessors and several clever mechanics. Assuming that the Wii U version doesn’t end up sporting any unique issues, it should also be a title that deserves a look come Christmas Day.
