‘Starfield’ and ‘Spider-Man 2’ potentially releasing in the same month has already triggered a pointless debate

A thousand planets in the galaxy or NYC?

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 voice actor confirming that the long-anticipated Insomniac sequel is coming out in September, coinciding with the release of Bethesda’s Starfield, Microsoft and Sony are bound to directly go toe-to-toe again with their respective exclusives. The gaming community is taking this as their cue to pit the two games against each other, even though from a thematic perspective, they have absolutely nothing in common.

While PlayStation owners bask in the glory of Kratos in God of War Ragnarok, Xbox customers have been left to fend for themselves with a string of mediocre third-party titles. This will soon change as Bethesda gears up to release the numerously delayed Starfield.

Todd Howard and co. have announced that their ambitious sci-fi venture will come out on Sep. 6, if not subject to further impediments. Now, Tony Todd, who voices Venom in Spider-Man 2, has claimed that the game will be out in the same month as Starfield.

For some reason that eludes us other than the two games being published by rival companies, fans are comparing the two and trying to decide which will win the war, never mind the fact that the two have nothing in common as an interactive experience.

One is a sci-fi game that allows you to explore deep space with Bethesda’s trademark role-playing module. The other is a superhero game set in New York and featuring our beloved web-slinger. Some people are trying to be the voice of reason here.

That doesn’t mean gamers won’t pit them against each other, though, and the only catch is the biased result of that thought experiment, which relies entirely too much on your personal preferences.

Honestly, we should just be happy that September is going to host not one, but two of the most anticipated games in recent memory. Why pick sides when it’s such a great time to be a gamer?
